In Memoriam

(January 12, 2018)  It is with a heavy heart that Changing Lives International, Inc. (CLI) announces the passing of our dear founder, Canon Percia Hutcherson. She was called by the Lord on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the age of 95. We are grateful for the vision that God bestowed upon her to create CLI as a vehicle to assist persons with disabilities in Kenya. Even though she is no longer physically present, we intend to pick up the torch to carry out her legacy to the fullest extent possible in the years to come.

To that end, we are happy to report that one of Percia’s wishes was finally realized at the end of 2017. After Percia met a young limbless boy named Job over a decade ago, this fall CLI was able to outfit him with his first-ever prosthetic limb! The procedure took place in late October at Cure International Hospital in Kijabe, Kenya.  Following three days of measurements and trials, he was successfully fitted for a new arm and can now hold a pencil to write! We hope this is the first step in a multi-step process to restore functionality to Job’s arms and legs.

Job’s father tells us that he is doing well since the procedure.  Rose, the caregiver who spent time with Job and his family during the treatment writes:  “Thanks to God for the great support from you all.  Job is one of the lucky person to have had such a support. May our good Lord bless you all as you continue supporting others of different challenges.”

Join the 95 Campaign!

(June 1, 2017)  This month we celebrate Changing Lives International, Inc. (CLI Inc.) founder Percia Hutcherson! On June 19th , she will celebrate her 95th birthday! Help us honor her with a special $95 birthday donation to fulfill her mission of helping persons with disabilities in Kenya.

When Percia was working in Kenya more than a decade ago, one of her wishes was to help a young boy named Job, who was born without fully developed arms or legs,  receive new limbs. Unfortunately, that wish was never granted as she was forced to leave Kenya due to violence in the country and a few years later she would fall ill.

CLI Inc. is starting where Percia left off by realizing her goal. That young boy she sought to help is a now a teenager and CLI Inc. is currently working with him and his family to procure a prosthetic limb that would enable him to write and carry out other tasks. For Job, a talented artist and gifted student, this would be a dream come true!
